S2

S2 is a water hardening tool steel possessing extreme toughness, bending before it breaks even at Rockwell C 59/60. When hardened in medium and large size sections, S2 develops a hard case and a tough core. The combination of extreme toughness, hardness and wear resistance makes it suitable for use in many applications that require extreme toughness, must not break, and where other tool steels will not perform.
